How to play

How to play

  1. Reveal all cells that do not contain mines. A number tells you how many of its eight neighbours contain mines, including diagonals. Empty regions open automatically.
  2. Right-click to place or remove a flag. Click an open number after placing the matching number of flags around it to reveal its other neighbours. Incorrect flags can cause a loss.
  3. Choose Easy (9 by 9, 10 mines), Medium (12 by 12, 24 mines) or Hard (16 by 16, 50 mines). The first opening and its neighbours are safe; later moves may require guessing. Each difficulty saves its own field and best time.
  1. Keep Reveal selected and tap a cell to open it. Numbers count mines in the eight neighbouring cells, including diagonals.
  2. Choose Flag to mark suspected mines, then switch back to Reveal. Tap an open number to reveal its remaining neighbours when the matching number of flags is present. Incorrect flags can expose a mine.
  3. Choose a difficulty above the field. Easy fits the window. On Medium and Hard, drag to explore the board or use fullscreen for more room. The first opening is safe, and the timer pauses with the game. Progress and best times save on this device.

A little more about the game

Mossfield is a free browser puzzle inspired by the classic minesweeper rules. Use numbered clues to uncover safe cells and flag hidden mines in a soft garden palette. Easy, Medium and Hard offer progressively larger fields with 10, 24 and 50 mines. Mines are placed after your first reveal, keeping that cell and its neighbours safe. Boards are randomly generated and are not guaranteed to be solvable without guessing. Win by revealing every safe cell; flags alone are not enough. Includes automatic opening of empty regions, opening around completed number clues, a pausable timer, local saves and separate best times for each difficulty. Designed for mouse, keyboard and touch, with light and dark themes. No account or download needed.
